Fruits for Weight Loss… For Real!

pineapple weight lossWe live in such a divided world these days, maybe it would help for us all to connect over a common goal: weight loss!

It’s true! Almost every adult wishes they could lose some amount of weight. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or what you believe, most of us agree that we would love to lose some (or a lot) of weight!

What we don’t agree on is how. With a gazillion different weight loss plans and diets and books and websites, how do you know which is best?

Truth is, many diet and weight loss plans are pretty effective if done properly and for long enough. Many are also costly, however. Some are unsafe, and plenty just don’t work at all.

When looking to shed some of that extra weight, maybe the best place to start is somewhere simple, easy and proven – like fruit.

Fruit for weight loss?

Yes, fruit for weight loss!  Not *just* fruit, but strategically eating certain fruits while also abstaining from the bad foods you know you should be avoiding has been proven to boost metabolism and help shed more pound faster.

Which fruits are best?

  • Watermelon – It’s high in water content (90%) and very low in calories. It’s also a rich source of amino acids called arginine which help burn fat.
  • Banana – Full of potassium and fiber, bananas are the perfect post-workout refuel. Eating a banana instead of a protein bar (which is terrible for you) will help your body recover more efficiently, and will help you lose weight as you are consuming less calories.banana weight loss
  • Apple – A Brazilian study found that women who ate apples before their meals lost 33% more weight than those who didn’t eat them! This is due to apples being low in calories and sodium, but hight in vitamins and filling so you are less tempted to eat other junk after an apple.
  • Pineapple – Interestingly, it has been discovered that the enzymes in unripened pineapples are actually amazing at burning fat quickly. The problem is, it would take at least 10 unripened pineapples to get enough of this enzyme into your system to become effective. We don’t recommend eating 10 pineapples a day, but we do recommend taking a supplement that will give you all the enzymes you need to kickstart that weight loss!
  • Pear – Pears are a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth in a healthy way. Full of fiber and vitamin C, a sweet, juicy pear can fill your need to snack and keep you full for much longer.
  • Tomato – Yes, they are a fruit! They count! Tomatoes are amazing for weight loss because they promote a hormone, leptin, in your body which encourages weight loss, increased metabolism and appetite control. Tomatoes also reduce water retention and are full of antioxidants. tomatoes weight loss

Obviously, you can’t eat just fruit (though, rumor has it Steve Jobs did!). For maximum effect, it’s best to remove simple carbs, fats, and high sodium food from your diet and replace those naughty snacks and meals with more of the healthy, weight-loss triggering fruits mentioned above. It’s also important to be sure you are getting proper servings of veggies and lean meats as well to fully round out your nutritional needs.

About modernhealthproject

Hi there! This is my little blog project where I am trying to learn more about health, wellness and living a balanced life, while also sharing a bit of my silly side as well. By "silly" I mean sarcastic. And by "a bit" I mean way too much. Sorry about that.♥ - Anna
