Reverse Years of Sun Damage to Your Skin!

We did it! We survived another summer!

But, do you know what probably didn’t make it through summer without damage? Your skin!

The summer months are the absolute worst for our skin… they are when the sun is most powerful and also when we are outside the most! It’s a powerful combination that may make for a fun time, but it also makes for visibly damaged skin!

Not to worry though, because as always, we’ve got your back. You don’t have to let another summer damage to your skin!

Here are the absolute best proven ways to reduce the signs of sun damage to your skin

  • To treat sunburn, apply unrefined, organic coconut oil, which is rich in lauric acid – a fatty acid that plays a huge role cellular growth and repair. Simply apply a tablespoon of coconut oil to your face daily while in a hot shower, to allow for pores to open. If you want to mix it with essential oils like lavender or mint for added relief, feel free! The oil will lock in moisture while also encouraging cellular growth and repair.
  • Once your sunburn has healed, exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. It’s important to remove all those dead skin cells and prevent them from clogging pores and causing blemishes. It also helps encourage new, fresh skin growth which results in a brighter, smoother complexion.
  • To treat sun spots, make a skin-lightening facial treatment by mixing equal parts of apple cider vinegar and onion juice (which you can make by pureeing an onion and then squeezing it through a cheesecloth to extract the juices). Both of these ingredients have high sulfur content which helps encourage the lightening and rejuvenation of damaged skin.  Apply this mixture to a clean face with a cotton ball and let sit for 30 minutes.   • Apply a weekly overnight anti-aging mask to give your skin a healthy boost while you snooze. Studies show that cells are actually more active in repairing themselves while we are sleeping, so it’s important to harness this time for maximum rejuvenation!
  • Always moisturize every morning with a quality facial cream! Moisture is key when it comes to keeping your skin soft, smooth and supple. Choose a day time moisturizer that locks in moisture and hydrates your face without leaving your face feeling greasy or heavy.

Finally, and it may seem a bit late in saying this, but prevention is key! Wear a cute sunhat and sunglasses when outside to prevent the sun from even reaching your face… and with the added bonus of looking stylish! Sun protection

Also, starting now, you should make it a habit to always wear sunscreen before going in the sun! Specifically, always use an SPF face cream that is designed to moisturize your skin but also protect it from damaging UVs. If you get in the habit of using sunscreen you will be able to prevent future damaging sunburns which means two great things: No painful, itchy and peeling skin and SIGNIFICANTLY LESS DAMAGE TO YOUR SKIN!
