The Many Perks of Pineapples

pineapplesPineapples have plenty of perks!

Please allow us to present the many positive points to pineapples!

Perhaps we sound a bit silly, but in all seriousness, pineapples are not to be overlooked!

Pineapples are nutritious!

Pineapples are full of vitamin C, beta-carotene, thiamin, vitamin B6, folate and both soluble and insoluble fiber. They also contain minerals like potassium, copper, manganese, calcium, and magnesium. They are also low calorie and delicious!

Pineapples can help you lose weight!

We aren’t joking! Pineapple contains no fat and is low in calories, which makes it a healthier fruit option.  In fact, 2 slices of pineapple contain only about 80 calories but are packed full of the nutrition we just mentioned above.

Pineapples are also over 85% water, which means snacking on them also hydrates you and hydration helps with weight loss. The high fiber content also works with the water to keep you fuller longer and help flush your system.

Finally, let’s talk about bromelain. This enzyme is abundant in the stem and juice of a pineapple and actually helps to boost digestion, reduce inflammation, and best of all… it reduces stomach bloat and helps burn more fat!

Too good to be true? Only sort of… You see, bromelain is at its peak when pineapples aren’t ripe yet. And while eating some pineapple every day will give you many health benefits as well as a small amount of bromelain to help with weight loss, to get maximum weight loss benefit, you’d have to eat 2-3 full, unripe pineapples every day! Luckily, if you’re not up for such a task, you can always take a pineapple supplement designed specifically to retain the maximum weight-loss power of bromelain within a super concentrated formula. Pineapples actually help boost fertility!

Seriously!  If you’re trying to get pregnant, try eating pineapple core the week before and after ovulation.  Pineapple helps increase cervical mucus, which is what helps keep sperm alive inside your uterus while they’re swimming for that egg! Your uterus is naturally acidic, which kills sperm. But cervical mucus is alkaline and reduces that acidity, giving the sperm both safety and nourishment on its journey. pineapple fertility

After ovulation, if a sperm found the egg, the egg will need to implant into your uterine lining. If this lining is inflamed, or not properly thickened, the egg will not implant. As it turns out, bromelain thickens the uterine lining to help egg implantation!

So if you’re looking to make a baby, pineapple is your new friend!

Pineapples are delicious!

Summer will be here before you know it. You better start practicing for the perfect pineapple pina colada now! (Perk: It’s healthier than a traditional pina colada!)

The only drawback to pineapples is… wait, there isn’t one! They are nutritious, low calorie, help in weight loss and even help in conception! Not to mention they are delicious and a great addition to almost any meal, from yogurt and cottage cheese with pineapple for breakfast to glazed ham or pizza with cooked pineapple for dinner!

About modernhealthproject

Hi there! This is my little blog project where I am trying to learn more about health, wellness and living a balanced life, while also sharing a bit of my silly side as well. By "silly" I mean sarcastic. And by "a bit" I mean way too much. Sorry about that.♥ - Anna
